NEW LEGISLATION
Law creates a registry of convicted animal abusers

The law places anyone convicted of animal abuse on a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation registry that anyone can see. They will remain on the list for two years for the first offense and five years for any additional convictions.

Tennessee Spay/Neuter Law/Public Chapter 615
State law requires that animals adopted from shelters be spayed/neutered. If they are too young, then a deposit is paid to the shelter to ensure that adopted dogs/cats are spayed/neutered. If deposits are not reclaimed, then it forfeits to the shelter.
