WHY SHELTER ADOPTION?
|
National figures indicate that about half of the animals
in shelters..."some much more and some much less"... are
euthanized for lack of good homes.
Animals at your local shelter are just waiting for
someone like you to give them a new home. Please
consider adopting from a local shelter for the following
reasons:
-
Shelter adoption creates a “golden opportunity” to
be a part of the solution…adoption saves one life
and creates a space for another pet who needs
shelter.
-
Shelter pets are available in many shapes, sizes,
ages, energy levels, breeds and personalities…all in
one place.
-
Shelters are meant to be temporary homes for pets.
Your perfect companion is anxiously waiting for you.
-
The
unconditional love you get and bond you can have
with a shelter pet offers a relationship like no
other.
-
Coming home to joyous greetings and years of
companionship from a shelter pet is mutually
beneficial to pet and guardian.
-
Many
shelters provide helpful behavioral assessments for
pets available for adoption.
-
Most
shelter pets have received all appropriate medical
care, including spay or neuter prior to adoption.
Adoption fees usually cover all of this and are
quite reasonable.
-
Giving a homeless pet a forever home with you is one
of the most gratifying things you can do.
Making your “first stop” a shelter close to home when
you’re looking for four-legged companion is a truly kind
thing to do.
To locate your local animal shelter, check the
Yellow Pages under
"animal shelter," "animal control," or "humane society.
